Huawei launches new look for its AppGallery

Huawei the leading global technology company, has unveiled its brand new AppGallery interface in Europe providing smartphone users with a new way to discover and enjoy thousands of Apps and Games. The new AppGallery has been designed for discovery with improved navigation and localised content whilst making it easier for developers to create deeper engagements with customers.

The enhancements to AppGallery reflect the success of Huawei’s App ecosystem, which has grown its global user base to over 530 million monthly active users in the past year. The new design showcases Apps and Games with bigger, bolder designs across the entire user experience.

Discovery delivers more than Search

With user experience at the core of the all-new AppGallery UI, Huawei has focused on the interactive discovery, enabling apps to be showcased using striking visuals and complementary digital content and presented to users in fewer steps. This serves to expose and promote more Apps from app developers while ensuring they are discoverable to the right audience.

On the new ‘Featured’ tab, for example, Apps are now presented in card form. This means that not only is it easier for users to find a selection of Apps and Games hand-picked by the AppGallery team, but they can also get much more relevant curated content, including articles, expert guides and reviews. Featured tabs have also been updated to scroll from top to bottom and from new to older posts, enhancing the user experience.

Positioned just under the Featured tab on the new interface are Campaigns and Gifts tabs, one of the most popular features among active users. The Campaigns tab offers promotions including Lucky Draws, Cashback offers and Challenges to win rewards, and most of them are localised which generates increased interactivity with users. The Gifts section enables users to retrieve free items from app developers in return for downloading or signing up to their apps. These might include free premium services for a set period, or extra credits to be used in a game, and they are a great mechanism for developers to help users make new discoveries.

Wealth of digital content

In line with Huawei’s determination to deliver apps with local relevance to users, the new AppGallery will be curated by editors to focus on local trends and needs. They will post editorial content to inspire users, from reviews of Apps and Games to useful tips and high-quality collections featuring hidden gems.

Among some of the premium apps on AppGallery are the global music streaming service Deezer, the calling and messaging app Viber, and the leading urban mobility app Moovit, to name just a few. AppGallery currently offers 18 distinct app categories, including games, social, entertainment, education, news & reading, photo & video, food & drink, transport & tickets, shopping, and tools.
