OnePlus has launched it’s all-new flagship devices the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro through a remote event given the pandemic situation. Both devices bring some new and long-awaited features to the OnePlus zone while making the already existing stuff better. One factor that might be concerning for OnePlus fans might be the price of the high end OnePlus 8 Pro, which has gone near the prices of other flagship devices. Let’s see what both of them have!

OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro: Redesigned!

According to tradition, the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro did not look similar. However, this year, OnePlus has taken a different approach as the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 pro look almost the same even though the Pro is bigger in size and comes packed with better specifications.

The waterdrop notch is nowhere to be seen on the OnePlus 8. Instead, there is a left-aligned display cutout. The size of this cutout is pretty small at 3.8mm. Behind the screen is a triple-lens setup is not the similar circular module that was seen on the OnePlus 7T. Instead, it is similar to what we saw on the OnePlus 7 Pro: a vertically oriented module.

On the other hand, the OnePlus 8 Pro has a pretty much similar design to the OnePlus 8. However, it has a slightly bigger display: 6.78 inches vs. 6.55 inches. As a result, the 8 Pro is a bit larger than the regular 8. It is also lighter in comparison to the 7T and 7T Pro due to the absence of the pop-up selfie camera. It stands at 199g compared to the 206g of the 7T Pro. Moreover, the OnePlus 8 Pro packs a quadruple-camera setup on the rear.

The Colors and What Makes it a Flagship!

OnePlus has been making incredible devices at low prices for a while now. However, it was hard to say whether they were a complete flagship device because OnePlus always missed out on some features which they thought were not actually necessary such as water resistance and wireless charging.

This time, finally, OnePlus has added both these features to the OnePlus 8 Pro. It comes with wireless charging and IP68 rating. The colors available are Onyx Black, Glacial Green, and Interstellar Glow for the OnePlus 8 and Onyx Black, Glacial Green, and Ultramarine Blue for the OnePlus 8 Pro.

Features and Specifications!

Both devices come with the latest and powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset installed with the X55 5G modem meaning they both support 5G. As mentioned earlier the OnePlus 8 Pro now has wireless charging and an IP68 rating making it water and dust resistant. Moreover, wireless charging speed is the same as the wired charging speed which is incredible as it is 30W. However, you would have to buy the Warp Charge 30 wireless charger for this. The regular OnePlus 8 does not have wireless charging or an IP rating.

Camera!

The OnePlus 8 has a triple-lens camera setup. It has a 48MP f/1.75 main sensor, a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP f/2.4 macro sensor.

The OnePlus 8 Pro on the other hand has a quad-lens camera. It has a 48MP f/1.78 main sensor, a 48MP f/2.2 ultra-wide sensor, an 8MP f/2.44 telephoto sensor (with 3x hybrid zoom), and a 5MP f/2.4 color filter camera (focused on lighting effects and filters).

Pricing and Availability

Both OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will be available in the UK and the US, hitting stores on April 21 in the UK and April 29 in the US.

The OnePlus 8 starts at $699 / £599 for a model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The price rises to $799 / £699 for a version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The OnePlus 8 Pro on the other hand starts at $899 / £799 for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The price rises to $999 / £899 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
