In this episode of Baba Jani, Asfand has made some very important decisions. Asfand proposed to Sadia to marry him so that he can take care of her and her daughter. We knew this would happen, of course. But it’s always interesting to see how these events unfold and the justifications the various characters give for their decisions.
In the fourth episode:
It’s Savera Nadeem who delivered a beautiful performance. Savera created strength and grace in a typically pathetic and desperate character. Sadia is an ailing woman who wants her daughter married off. Asfand steps in to stop Sadia from marrying an already married man.
Next up, Faysal Qureshi with his graceful paternal dignity who plays Asfand. Asfand speaks to Sadia and convinces her to marry him.
One dialog that we really liked:
“Mohabbat aur khuloos ka sauda hai… waada karta hoon, ghaata nahin honay doonga.”
That’s just vintage Faiza Iftikhar though – she weaves complicated relationships in a very strong but justified way.
Then there is a very weepy but very convincing Madiha Imam who is anxious and upset at the idea of her mother being married off to some dude.
More excellent performances:
Cue Saba Hamid as Najiba and Jinaan Hussain as Naila to create more havoc than necessary at Asfand’s decision.
Asfand tries to speak to Najiba but she throws another fit. While her husband seems to be a reasonable man and wants to participate in Asfand’s nikah to Sadia (which he eventually does).
Full steam ahead:
Sadia drops the bomb on her kid. Yet Sadia seems determined that she needs to do what she needs to do.
And it happens:
A sombre nikah takes place between Asfand and Sadia.
