Baba Jani – review, recap, story, cast.

Have you guys been watching Baba Jani? Baba Jani is written by Faiza Iftikhar and airs on Geo TV Network. This play stars Faysal Qureshi as Asfand, a brother who has taken care of his manipulative, evil sisters all his life and now wants to get married. But due to further manipulation, he doesn’t get married to the girl he likes. One of his friends suggest that he get married to a girl – who turns out to be super young! Her mother, Savera Nadeem, wants her daughter to get married so that she doesn’t have to worry about what will happen to her after she dies.

Asfand refuses to get married to the young girl (Madiha Imam) and decides to marry her mother instead. Gasp.

The great thing about Baba Jani is that the main hero is not a weirdo or a freak who is the hero just because we have to believe that he is a hero. He is the hero because he does the right thing and even though he’s got some human flaws and some really spineless moments, when push comes to shove, you can probably count on him to do the right thing.

Saba Hamid plays Asfand’s elder sister who is absolutely deliciously evil and thoroughly entertaining as she plays this role. Her recent roles have been mostly positive so it’s great to see her in a negative avatar.

Faysal Qureshi is a delight to watch because there’s something thoroughly endearing about his persona onscreen and there’s a likability to his role in Baba Jani as well.

Faiza Iftikhar is as always on top of her game and this play also looks like it’s going to be another feather in her cap.

The only problem we see is that Madiha Iman is a little weirdly cast because we recently saw her in Zakhm opposite Faysal Qureshi in a partner role so it’s a little disconcerting to see her playing Faysal’s daughter in Baba Jani.
