What is it?
The Edifier Aurora is a set of 2.1 PC Speakers which pack in a couple of speakers to give you that stereo feel, with a sub-woofer packed in the tube shown above. It is available in a range of colours, as shown above, and runs off universal AC power (110/230V). The right speaker also allows you to adjust volume.
Look and feel
As far as PC Speakers go, over the years we have become used to the fact that speakers for PCs and Laptops are boring affairs when it comes to looking at them. The Edifier Aurora goes away from the norm, giving you speakers you’d happily want to show off, and the range of colours makes sure they work in all kind of environments. The speakers have a good solid feel, and a beautiful finish. They are a bit heavy, but since they are not designed to be portable, that isn’t really an issue.
Ease of usage
Like any other speakers, they are as easy as it gets. Plug them into your audio out (they come with the required cables), plug the AC in (come with Europe and UK options), and off you go. Use the volume control buttons to turn it up or down.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to sound quality. The sound quality for the size of these speakers is quite impressive. The woofers will not shake your table, or move the earth, but they provide good deep bass sounds, while the satellite speakers on the side give you a good audio experience. Testing it on a few different albums, I found a very slight distortion on high tones, but that was hard to detect generally, and could probably just be our highly tuned ears. Generally the experience was great, and the added bass means you can enjoy both music as well watching videos on your PC or laptop.
These speakers can be bought from various online retailers, as well as Amazon. They retail for about £49.
