Sometimes, you don’t want to full on block or mute someone annoying on Twitter. You just want them to stop following you, and hopefully go away forever.
Luckily, there’s an unofficial feature known as ‘Soft Blocking’ that makes someone unfollow you without them ever realising. Hopefully they won’t notice the sudden lack of your tweets in their timeline, and your paths will never cross again.
Here’s how to do it:
- Go to their profile
- Block them
- Immediately unblock them again
- Ta-da! They are no longer following you.
People don’t get a notification when you block them, so unless they happened to refresh your profile at that exact second, you’ll almost certainly get away with it. And if they ever ask if you know how they unfollowed you against their will, just blame Twitter glitches, then mute them.
Go forth and soft block with impunity.
