Huawei Consumer Business Group (BG) today announced that the new Mate 40 Pro (RRP: £1099.99) is now available to pre-order in the UK, ahead of going on sale from 13th November. Pre-orders are available until 12th November from the Huawei Store, as well as selected operators/retailers including EE and Three. Customers who pre-order can get a free Huawei Sound X speaker (via redemption).
The Mate 40 Pro has the Mate Series DNA at its core. Over the last eight years, there have been 10 outstanding generations of Mate Series devices and now the latest flagship smartphones take Mate to new heights with the best technology in the industry. From powerful performance to unique user interactions, everything about the Huawei Mate 40 Pro has been fine-tuned to provide the most exciting smartphone experience possible. Huawei Mate 40 Pro incorporates the world’s first 5 nanometer 5G SoC, Ultra Vision Cine Camera system and the iconic Space Ring Design, as well as a smarter, more attentive digital experience.
The smartphone comes with an OLED 6.76 inches screen size and the resolution is 1344 x 2772 pixels. It is IP68 dust/water resistant and built with a glass front, glass back, and aluminum frame. The rear camera consists of a 50 MP (wide) omnidirectional + 12 MP (periscope telephoto) optical zoom + 20 MP (ultrawide) while on the front there is 13 MP (wide) + TOF 3D (depth/biometrics sensor) camera.
The Kirin 9000 inside the Huawei Mate 40 Pro features an 8-core CPU part and a 24-core GPU part. The CPU component consists of 1x Cortex-A77 (3.13 GHz), 3x Cortex-A77 (2.54 GHz), and 4x Cortex-A55 (2.05 GHz) cores. Obviously, 5G support is incorporated and the Kirin 9000 also comes with a capable NPU. The AnTuTu performance results clearly show that the new Huawei chip can outperform the Snapdragon 865, meaning the upcoming fierce contest with the Snapdragon 875 could be closer than some may have previously expected.
The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is the No. 1 smartphone camera available worldwide, after being awarded the highest smartphone camera rating ever by DXOMARK, the leading source of independent audio and image quality measurements and ratings for smartphone, camera and lens.
With an overall score of 136 points, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro is recognized as a dynamic range monster with 140 points awarded for Photo, 116 for Video and 88 for Zoom (Tele & Wide). The handset has also achieved No. 1 position globally for the Selfie Camera with 104 points.
