Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) today announced it is putting 5G connectivity in the hands of more consumers with the launch of the HUAWEI P40 lite 5G, a new and powerful 5G camera smartphone. The HUAWEI P40 lite 5G includes a powerful 64MP AI quad-camera[1] system to provide all of the creative tools necessary for budding photographers, and the advanced 7nm Kirin 820 5G SoC delivers 5G connectivity, high overall performance, and energy efficiency.
Costing just £379.99 (RRP), the HUAWEI P40 lite 5G features the HUAWEI Punch FullView Display[2]offering an expansive display area measuring 6.5 inches and is enclosed in an iconic 3D glass design for a comfortable hold. Offering impressive all-day battery life and supporting 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge to minimize the downtime between charges the HUAWEI P40 lite 5G offers all the latest smartphone technology for less.
In terms of the specs, the phone features a 6.5-inch LTPS LCD panel with HDR 10 support running at a maximum of Full HD+ (1080 x 2400) resolution. Under the hood, the phone is powered by the new HiSilicon Kirin 820 5G octa-core chipset (upgrade over the Kirin 810 on the previous model). This has been paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage.
For cameras, the phone gets a quad lens setup with a 64-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Fitted with an f/2.0 wide-aperture lens, the HUAWEI P40 lite 5G features advanced Super Night Selfie that optimizes the subject with advanced portrait algorithms and uses Multi-Frame Fusion to boost color and details in the background. Thanks to the powerful Kirin 820 5G SoC, noise is controlled with BM3D algorithms, allowing HUAWEI P40 lite 5G to produce clean shots effortlessly even in dimly lit environments. On the front, there’s a 16-megapixel f/2.0 selfie shooter.
Apart from this, the phone is powered by a 4000-mAh battery with support for 40W fast charging. There’s a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. For connectivity, the new Huawei device includes 5G and also gets Wi-Fi dual-band, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-frequency GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Huawei P40 Lite 5G is simply a rebranded version of the Huawei Nova 7 SE that launched in China last month. The Huawei P40 Lite 5G comes in three colors: Space Silver, Crush Green, and Midnight Black.
For software, the P40 Lite 5G is expected to feature EMUI 10 based on Android 10. There won’t be any Google apps and services though owing to the ongoing US ban against the company.
