Alongside the new Huawei P40 series smartphones, the brand also introduced a more affordable, sporty looking addition to their Watch GT smartwatch series dubbed the Huawei Watch GT2e in a live stream event in lieu of their usual grand launch on account of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Huawei Watch GT 2e sports a stainless steel case that’s water-resistant to 50 meters and an integrated strap with colors matching the watch case.
In terms of hardware, the Watch GT 2e hosts a 1.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a Kirin A1 SoC running Huawei’s own LiteOS operating system and sufficient storage to cram in about 500 MP3s which is quite a substantial tracklist. Other mod-cons with the Watch GT 2e include a blood oxygen saturation (SP02) monitor and the ability to track 100 different workout modes including some rather oddball ones like parkour and skateboarding
It’s also capable of lasting up to 2 weeks on a single charge and up to 24 hours of music playback. The Huawei Watch GT 2e comes in a variety of colors including Mint Green and a shade dubbed Lava Red. At the time of publication, Huawei announced that the Watch GT 2e has a global launch date of April with a price tag of €199.
Huawei also announced some new colorways for their existing Huawei Watch GT 2 in the form of the GT2 Champagne Gold Edition which is priced at €229 for a strap in Frosty White and €249 for a strap in Chestnut Red but which are otherwise similar to existing Huawei Watch GT 2 models in the market.
