The all-new Golf is ready to go. Volkswagen brand has presented the eighth generation at a world premiere in Wolfsburg: featuring more digitalisation and connectivity than ever before, packed with innovations and sporting a highly expressive design.
In the new model, the strengths that have made the Golf a worldwide bestseller have been further perfected. In addition to the new range of efficient engines, further enhanced suspension technology provides a boost in terms of agility. The new Golf01 is also a trendsetter in terms of its digitalised and connectivity-oriented interior world, its assisted driving features and its online-based functions and services.
Its exterior design is more dynamic than ever before, and yet it is instantly recognisable as a Golf from all sides. On the inside, fresh colours and fabrics define the look of the new compact model, as well as a new digital cockpit.
Alexa integration
Launching in December, the eighth-generation Golf will be the first Volkswagen vehicle with Alexa built-in. Alexa will be integrated directly into the vehicle infotainment system, allowing customers to play music, get directions, control smart home devices, and access thousands of skills – all while keeping their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
Alexa will be available for Golf drivers enrolled in Volkswagen’s We Connect service. Customers can use Alexa in the all-new Golf in all European countries where Alexa is already available – Germany, UK, France, Italy, and Spain. The integration is another part of our effort to bring Alexa to more places beyond the home, helping make daily life more convenient, more productive and more entertaining for customers.
The latest generation of the Golf is due to enter the Italian markets in 2020 first quarter speaking about a meeting between the employees of VW’s Wolfsburg plant and company’s executives,
VW briefly mentions “the entire production of the Golf Variant will be relocated to the main plant here in Wolfsburg.” The current Golf Variant is produced in Zwickau, Germany.
For us wagon lovers, that’s definitely good news. Golf customers in Europe will basically be able to buy a brand new Golf Wagon next year when we expect to see the more practical variant of the Golf MK8. In North America, however, it will be a different story, at least for the 2020 model year.
In the United States, the new Golf will arrive only in GTI and R flavours, which won’t debut for at least a year or so from now. In Canada, you’ll be able to buy a new Golf Wagon but it won’t be the MK8. Instead, the local subsidiary of the German manufacturer will shift 2019 models and there’s no decision on the 2020 wagons yet.
Hybrid campaign.
The new Golf01 will be the first Volkswagen to launch with five hybrid versions (eTSI and eHybrid) eTSI. The Golf is the only vehicle in its category to offer three highly efficient 48V mild hybrid drives, generating 81 kW, 96 kW and 110 kW eHybrid. As a plug-in hybrid the new Golf will launch with two outputs: 150 kW and as the GTE generating 180 kW
