Review: Vinturi Deluxe Aerator

What is it?

Any connoisseur of wine will tell you the importance of aerating your wine. You let it breathe. You swirl it. You all that ‘pretentious’ stuff that people who don a French accent do. Or, you go out and get yourself a Vinturi Deluxe, which aerates your wine for you.

Well, technically it is the process of mixing air with your wine. It offers the following advantages:

  • Sharper smell
  • Sharper  and richer taste
  • Enhanced texture/mouthfeel
  •  Softens tennants meaning no more bitter after taste

Vinturi’s Deluxe offers all this in the package.

So, how does it work?

Quite simple really. It mixes the air into your wine as you pour it down the ‘aerator’.

Is that it?

So, all I have to do is pour it down the aerator?

Yes. That is all there is to it. As you pour down your wine into the glass, you just let it pass through the nozzle, and you’re good to go.

In fact, the Vinturi Deluxe is perfectly designed for the purpose. You sit the glass below, and the wine pours in perfectly. You even get a little ‘seat’ for the aerator to sit in after use so it doesn’t drip.

How well does it work?

You see those ‘what it does’ things in the aerating section? Yup. It does all that!

Your drink is richer, more mouthful, and more enjoyable.

Does this mean I can buy really cheap stuff, and show it off as really expensive stuff?

Only if you hide the bottle.

What else can I use this with?

Good question. Theoretically almost any liquid can use this. However, things like orange juice may not work very well. It needs to be something which isn’t dense or thick.

Is it easy to clean?

Generally, though you can see some stains start to appear on the inside of the aerator, which isn’t very easy to clean without a good old soak.

I like it, tell me more!

More information can be found at Vinturi’s website.

It generally retails for £59.99, but great deals can be seen online at the moment.
