Samsung announce Galaxy Mega

Not quite sure how to feel about this. On one hand, Samsung are pushing the boundaries by getting a real big phone in our hands. On the other hand, the size increase on screens is getting bigger and bigger, which means the content produced by various companies for smart phones in the form of apps will start getting smaller and smaller. Either way, after the immense success of the Galaxy Note series, Samsung have now announced the Mega, which pushes the boundary to 6.3 inches of screen. It takes everything that the Note and the S4 have to offer, and puts it in one big package, which will allow you to run two apps side by side. Good, crazy, exciting, or just plain nonsense, we have a new player in the market, and it is called a ‘phablet’!

  1. The Mega will be a mega-flop. I have a Note2 and love it, but even I can see that it’s just about as big as you’d want to get with a phone. Of course, the big selling point is the stylus which makes note-taking and sketching easy.

But…..and it’s a big but….there’s no stylus with the Mega. All the downside of a huge phablet without the upside of the Note/Note2.

  2. I will agree with you there, but I had similar thoughts about the Note, and that has actually worked very well. Also, women might find these devices easier to carry as they have their hand bags. Also, for business use this might just mean you don’t need an iPad kind of device, and have a ‘one thing does all’ kind of solution.
