London-based eMobility innovators, Swytch, have just dropped their latest bombshell in the DIY e-bike world: the Swytch MAX+ Kit. Building on the phenomenal success of their existing range, which has already empowered over 100,000 cyclists globally, the MAX+ promises to be their most advanced and feature-packed offering yet.
In a climate where a decent branded electric bike can easily set you back £2,500 or more, Swytch continues to champion an accessible alternative. The MAX+ kit allows you to transform almost any regular bicycle into a cutting-edge e-bike for under £1,000. Available to order from today, this new iteration boasts significant improvements, including an extended range of up to 60 miles on a single charge, a convenient integrated front light, a handy USB charging point, and industry-leading battery safety technology.
How Does It Work? Simple and Effective.
The beauty of the Swytch system lies in its straightforward design. The kit upgrades your existing bike by replacing one of your standard wheels with a custom-built Swytch motor wheel – proudly manufactured at their Norwich, UK facility. This motor wheel then connects to a compact and easily detachable battery pack that mounts onto your handlebars. Once you start pedalling, the system kicks in, providing a smooth and efficient 250W pedal-assist, propelling you to a road-legal top speed of 15 mph.
Safety is Paramount
Swytch places a strong emphasis on safety, and the MAX+ kit is no exception. The battery has undergone rigorous testing and certification, meeting the most stringent safety standards, including UN and CE. Furthermore, with the battery detached, your bike reverts to a completely regular bicycle. This crucial feature means you can still effortlessly transport your bike on all modes of public transport, including the London Underground, and store it without any special restrictions.
Swytch CEO Oliver Montague highlights the company’s commitment to safety and quality: “We’re investing heavily in safety and quality to mark ourselves out as the safest and most reliable option in an eBike market that’s recently been hit by a lot of adverse policy decisions such as the banning of some types of eBike on the London underground. Even though this won’t affect Swytch users who can remove their battery to restore their bike to a regular eBike before travelling, we see these policy decisions as a backwards step for the UK when we should be trying to encourage eMobility. So, in line with our company mission to make electric transport accessible to everyone we’re launching our most advanced system yet, the Swytch MAX+.”
Swytch CTO Dmitro Khroma elaborates on the advanced features: “This new upgrade to our kit is packed with advanced features including state-of-the-art battery safety technology, IPX6 certified waterproofing, a USB-C charging port so that the battery doubles as a power bank that can charge a standard smartphone about 200 times, and of course the ability to output 250W and power your cycle ride up to 60 miles.”
