Continental and Sennheiser, both giants in their own industries, have unveiled a state-of-the-art speaker less audio system designed for motor vehicles. The firms are making use of Continental’s Ac2ated Sound system and Sennheiser’s AMBEO 3D technology to make for a sound system that delivers an immersive audio experience.
Built on speaker less technology, Continental and Sennheiser’s newest invention is set to revolutionize the vehicle world. The idea makes use of specific surfaces on the vehicle’s interior body by configuring them to produce 3D sound for a never before seen vehicular audio experience. And the best part? This new sound concept is estimated to reduce weight and space coverage by as much as 90% when compared to the typical speaker sound system.
Head of Vehicle Networking and Information and Executive Board member at Continental, Helmut Matschi related, “For Ac2ated Sound, we have brought together the highest levels of expertise in the areas of acoustics, infotainment and vehicle design. In Sennheiser, we have found an audio expert who helped us make our pioneering audio system even better. Together, we have developed an audio system that creates premium sound out of nowhere. Additionally, Ac2ated Sound reduces space and weight. At Continental, we call this sustainability that’s music to your ears”.
While co-CEO of Sennheiser, Daniel Sennheiser narrated, “Our AMBEO immersive audio solutions deliver the ultimate quality in sound capture, processing and playback. Crucially, the ability to enjoy breathtaking immersive sound does not require specific 3D audio sources – AMBEO Mobility’s spatialization algorithm can turn any stereo material into an immersive experience. By intelligently analyzing the content, the patented algorithm artistically remixes the sound to provide an emotional experience, transporting the listener into the music”.
Transforming the Vehicle into an Instrument
This unique sound technology takes inspiration from classical wooden string instruments, taking note of how they make use of their bodies. What this has resulted in is a vehicular sound system that is so natural in its output that users experience audio in an entirely new way.
Perhaps, the greatest benefit of this revolutionary sound technology is the leeway it gives to vehicle manufacturers when it comes to designing the interior of their chosen vehicle. With largely unattractive speakers no longer taking up much-coveted surface area, car manufacturers can beautify the interior to no end. Ac2ated Sound technology renders traditional speaker components useless as they make use of the vehicle’s surface, including the door, roof, and rear, to imitate speaker diaphragm vibrations.
