Featured Project: Max C Electric Skateboard

We love a good crowd funded project. However, in recent years, we have seen quite a few crowd-funded projects that have promised quite a lot without delivering. That is why we prefer to feature projects that actually have a unit to show. Max C is one such company, and we are proud to feature their Electric Skateboard on our website.

Electric Skateboards are the latest way to commute. While they don’t quite offer the same longevity as a bike, they are great to commute around town. In fact, the likes of Max C’s product can go up to 15 miles per hour! That is pretty much the average cycling speed as well.

So, what makes Max C so special?

First of all, the price point is pretty decent. They have also worked reasonably hard to make it light and portable. The fact that you can charge it in around an hour is great. The range of 10 miles is pretty decent too, meaning most people will be able to do their shifts around town without having to worry about charging it.

The set of features is visible in the image above. What I really like is how it already includes LEDs on both sides to ensure visibility and safety.

So, how did the test ride go? Annoyingly, I am just over 80 kg, so I guess I may not be the best person to test this. However, I was going to give it a go.

As somebody who doesn’t normally use a Skateboard, I found the learning curve was pretty simple. In fact, I love how the manual tells you that it is simpler than it looks. Encouragement will always go a long way with me!

So, how did it work for me? Pretty well, apart from my bruised/scraped knees (knee pads, people!). Two speeds mean you can start slow and take it easy, and then push it up a bit with the fast mode. The remote works very well, and I could not report any lag on it. Battery life is decent and did not disappoint.

You can see it in action in the following video:

More information on the Max C Electric Skateboard can be found on their website.

Their Indiegogo project is currently live, and you can get one of these bad boys for just $259!

Definitely, something I’ll be trying a lot more of in the next few weeks. A perfect thing to carry around with you this summer!

Oh, and you also look pretty cool!
