Mobile, Desktop or Tablet: What’s best for social gaming?

With constant new advances in tablet and mobile technology, it was no real surprise when back in 2016 the number of people using mobile devices for social gaming, on sites like WSOP, finally overtook the numbers using desktops. Having said this, a huge number of gamers are still standing firmly in the corner of their trusty desktop. So which medium is the best for social gaming? Today we consider the merits of each…

DESKTOP

Although impossible to strap your desktop to your back and play anywhere around town, it seems that many gamers will remain desktop loyalists for life. Desktops offer bigger screens, better graphics, more control over the hardware (which means easier upgrades), and prices are by far the most competitive of the lot. For those gamers who care little for being able to play on the bus, desktops will always reign supreme – the playing experience you get with a PC is far superior to on mobile and tablet technology.

TABLETS
The good thing about tablets is that they offer a wonderful compromise between desktop and mobile. Although possible to use them on the move, tablets can still be a little too big to play on your way to work. It seems that those who have made the switch to tablet prefer to set up in a fixed location…in which case you may wonder why they don’t just opt for a desktop! However if you want to get the best gaming experience, while being mobile, it makes sense to opt for a tablet as they offer a higher resolution than smaller mobile devices.
MOBILE

The world is mobile obsessed – no matter where you are or what you’re doing, look around and you’ll be able to spot multiple people staring down at their screens. Ever since Apple launched the iPhone back in 2007, the face of mobile gaming has been completely changed. The iPhone was the first phone to boast a desktop-like interface and extraordinary hardware, but most importantly it ran on iOS, which means it was optimised to allow users to play complex games. Soon the app store opened its doors, and the world was awash with gaming opportunities to play on the go. Mobile is perfect for those who get bored easily – you have new, exciting, affordable games available at the click of a button, and you can play wherever you are, whenever you want.
