Bamboo socks? Sounds kind of crazy doesn’t it? But then if you really think about it, so does turning the flower that is called cotton to whatever you are probably wearing right now. But the whole idea of bamboo fascinates me, so lets look at that first. The idea is simple, bamboo is a very interesting plant. Technically a grass (and please do correct me if I am wrong), it grows long and thin, and while it easily bends, it is very strong where it matters. It also allows for proper air flow through itself, letting it breath. This, as far as I understand, is the basis of these socks.
It doesn’t end there though. The socks also throw in a few more features, such as:
- Arch support – for a better fit
- Terry cushion panels – to make it comfortable and shock absorbent on those long walks
- Ventilation panels – for better moisture management
- Comfort toe – for more comfort in the toe area
- Anatomically constructed left and right fit – to give you an ever better fit and support
As may be obvious from the above, comfort is the key word here. So, how do they fair? Pretty good, they are like most other sports/work socks, that are designed to take both the heat of lots of movement, as well as the sweat. Great comfort means that whatever you’re busy with, your feet should be the last thing on your mind.
And how warm are these? They are like any other pair of socks you may own. Reasonably, but not on the thermal level. They are more focused on keeping your feet dry and comfortable rather than warm.
More on these can be found on the SockShop website:
They retail for a great price of only £3.99.
