We have looked at Fat Lad At The Back fitness wear before as well. They offer an interesting concept to the people who are trying to get fit. They are not targeting the skinny fitness freaks, rather the average Joe, the you and me, quite literally, the fat lad at the back. The idea is simple. You are trying to get fit and healthy, and you are not afraid to be the last one. You are taking part, you are trying, and you are getting on with the job. Here we look at the Bobby Dazzler Reflective Long Sleeve Cycling Jersey. Quite a mouthful, but you need something with all of that when you take up cycling in the winter months!
Part of what makes their range different is the how they approach sizes. You don’t have the traditional S, M, L and XL (or variants in either direction) as far as sizes go. Instead, you have a standard chest size, and they provide a handy chart that helps you measure and choose what size to get. They insist that you should go for a perfect fit rather than loose and flabby, because that is what makes the fabric work for you.
Speaking of the fabric, the Bobby Dazzler Jersey has patented Pixel 300 fabric, that reflects light directly back to its source, so you should be pretty visible on any kind of road, be it day or night. The Pixel 300 is a technical Italian fabric, fully breathable, and has outstanding wicking capabilities.
The front features a fairly colourful design with the logo and the zip, and nothing else.
The back is not that different, apart from the pockets at the back.
The pockets were more or less a highlight for using this. It features 3 pockets at the back, which is typical of most cycling jerseys, but on top of that it also had a zip pocket, which is specially designed for smart phones and such like. Being breathable, even after a 10 mile cycle ride, the pockets didn’t get sweaty and wet, and you can easily leave your phones in there.
Day to day wear
I have recently started cycling around 10 miles to work, and this was my Jersey of choice while I was reviewing this.
First thing you notice is the good fit. It isn’t too tight, but it isn’t flabby either. Body hugging, but in a good supportive way. The good fit also ensures that the jersey is wind proof and warm when you are cycling.
Once you get moving, the fabric starts to make you aware that it is stretchable and supportive, meaning it is easy to move around, while still maintaining a good fit.
Sweat was not really a big problem, as the fabric is wicking and dries quickly, and the slight bit of sweat that does linger on it as you take it off evaporates fairly quickly.
The pockets are very handy, as they allow you to keep items like water bottles, wallets, phones, etc safely, and keep them accessible too.
