Okay, before you judge this, it is not a selfie stick. This is, to quote a certain reference from a certain movie, the Selfie Stick’s father. Well, by definition it is a Telescopic Pole, which extends 49 cm, and attaches to cameras using the universal 1/4″ standard.
Look and feel
Anything and everything that comes with the name Deluxe and Leather in it is mostly about the looks and feels, and this one doesn’t disappoint. The premium leather finish is good to feel, and it ends in a space grey (as made famous by Apple) finished Aluminium. The best thing about the leather is that not only does it feel good, it feels warm against the metal.
The leather features the XSories logo, and seems to be sewn on. I have tried pulling it off, and there is none of that.
A wrist strap can be screwed on to the bottom, and since it shares the same screw as the one on top, theoretically you can stack many of these together to get a bigger height.
The opening and closing mechanism is quite interesting. It is based on twists and turns, but works. Like many poles of its kind, it does feel a very slight touch fragile when fully extended, but putting a regular camera on it didn’t seem to bend it.
The smallest it goes to is 18cm, while the maximum it goes to is 49cm.
Speaking of cameras, it can take a weight of up to 3kg, which is plenty for not just a decent SLR, but also a heavy duty lens, a big flash, and perhaps a microphone or other things too.
All in all, it ticks all boxes, and ticks them well.
Bu what of the length. Not big enough? Well for that, there is a bigger version of this too.
More information on the U-Shot Deluxe Leather can be found at the following link:
It retails for £47.99 and comes in both brown and black finishes. The non-deluxe version comes in 12 colours and retails for £32.99.
All in all, a useful as well as aesthetically pleasing device!
