About 6 months ago, in fact less than that, I finished a 2 year long contract that came with 100MB.
When I took that contract out, I was already knees deep in the smartphone world, and did use a lot of Internet, but data was expensive, and I realized I hardly used it on the go.
There is WiFi at home, WiFi at work. Most shops and restaurants and even public transport options also give you free WiFi too. Since I drove to work, there wasn’t much point me having a constant data stream while I was in the car.
It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t too difficult either. I survived those two years, without going over the data limit.
How things have changed though.
With 5 days left, I have 300MB left, and I feel like I have to ration. I do take the train to work now, which is probably where I use most of the data, but still it shouldn’t be that bad.
I know I will survive. I also know I have used a lot more since I had a few days without WiFi at home and used my data allowance freely.
Still. It does make me wonder about how things change, and how us, as humans, just get used to the luxuries in life, and then complain if they go away.
