Our latest featured Kickstarter is a venture by two young girls, one a student and one a fresh graduate, who are trying to make robotics easier and accessible to everyone. The idea is that there are two kinds of robotics kits available on the market, the too simple or the too complex. The idea of the PiBot is to get somewhere in the middle of that spectrum, offering people learning experience as well as the ability to create robots that they will be proud to show off. Using Arduino compatible hardware means that you can use the well known Arduino boards to create robots, as well as program them using their IDE, which is done using the ever popular language, C++.

So, how much to get one of these? The Kickstarter page shows that you can get a kit for only $75, with an extra $15 for deliveries outside the USA. This compared to about £200 you have to pay for Arduino’s own robot makes this quite a good deal. In fact, most robotics kits tend to be about a £100, so overall, this is a good deal on top of being a better product.
We do wonder though, what the Raspberry Pi people may wonder about the name.
