The first thing most of us look for as soon as we buy a new phone is a cover. We can’t deny it. We just all have a need to protect our devices somehow. What these covers often do is add unnecessary bulk to your device, turning your new and sexy phone into a big lump.
Samsung probably thought of just that, and have created a line of genuine covers for their Galaxy S4. Here we look at the S-View Premium Cover case.
So… a very thin case?
No. A bit more than that. You see, most cases go around your phone. This does more. This actually replaces the back of your S4, and clips in, instead. In fact, having a removable back cover definitely has its advantages, and Samsung are the first ones to make use of it themselves.
This then holds the flip cover from the side, giving it a very thing profile. In fact if you look at the picture above, even the Home button which is slightly higher than rest of the phone has a small regress in the top cover to shave off those precious millimetres off the thickness. Result? A case that doesn’t feel like the case, yet protects your phone from both back and front.
Okay, so it doesn’t add much bulk. What is that ‘hole’ we see?
That, my dear, is where it gets very very clever. This phone and case comes with sensors which detects when this cover is closed or open.
When the cover is closed, you get a special ‘view’ from the phone. A dark background with time on it. On top of that you get notifications, calls, and texts. What is great is that you can even accept and reject calls by sliding on top of this view, so you don’t need to open the case.
Even better, you can talk to people with the case closed, so there is no ‘front bit’ dangling around as you are on the phone. Also protects your phone screen from any sweat or moisturizer you may have on your face, among other things.
Oh I like it… how do I get one?
This can be found under the S4 Cases category at MobileFun.com:
While it normally retails for £44.99, there is a sale on at the moment and you can have it for only £32.99.
While the one we tried was white, you can find other colours as well as other cases in that category.
While the S4 is very new to me, I have already collected a few cases for it. This one, though, is the one that lives on it permanently, and will probably stay that way. Also, at the reduced price, it is an absolute bargain. The added functionality it provides is worth it alone.
