Pong – yet another phone case. Or is it?

Yes. You read right. It’s a phone case. Yet another one.

But wait. Is it really? Well, apparently not…

Pong Research, a company from across the pond, claims to have found yet another thing one can do to an phone case to make it interesting.
And so, they came up with idea, to use the case as a device to strengthen the phone’s signal! And protect you from radiation exposure (phone radiation ofc, wouldn’t help you in Fallout 3 I’m afraid). Lastly, as it boosts the signal, it also saves a bit of battery life.

So the big question is – does it really? Let’s find out.

The case itself.
It looks like it’s relatively sturdily built,  but on the other hand, doesn’t reflect that in weight. It fits perfectly fine with the phone (tested on iPhone 5). Plastic used is of very good quality, feels like a really premium case (which I guess it is) Easily snaps on and … easily snaps off, although I wasn’t a fan of the fact that I have to press on the camera lenses to push the case out. Fortunately, comes off easily when doing that.

Looks wise there’s a selection of colours to choose from. On the back of the case, there’s a brand logo, some stripes and three symbols showing off the fact that it boosts signal, saves battery and protects from radiation.

Now, while for the time being I didn’t mind that, in the future I think it would be a good idea to drop the logos and such and introduce a wider variety of design. Maybe custom engravings? That would be so awesome!
So does it do what the box says (and the box by the way is very nice and of good quality itself)?

Yes. Yes it does. Well, it does saves you battery, and it does boosts your signal. Unfortunately don’t have the tech to measure radiation levels, so will have to take their word for it.
Admittedly, when I first snapped it on, I didn’t noticed the increase in signal strength. I even had a moment thinking its weaker… Well, I was wrong. After few days, when I took the case off, I caught myself saying “Hey, I had 3G here!!”
Also, have to really compliment them on the battery saving side. I did not bother with even looking at the battery indicator while this case was on. Now, when it’s off my iPhone keeps dying by end of day.

So, all in all. Yet another case? Maybe. But one definitely worth getting.
Sure, it could have come with different designs on the back, or little sturdy card to help putting the screen protector on (yes, there is one in the box) and I’m sure some people would find some other faults with it, as people do.
But for what it’s worth, it does boost the signal and it does save phones battery. And protects your phone! If you haven’t got a selection of cases by now – you might as well get a Pong case.

That’s the case on the manufacturers site:
