Best Android App for Twitter?

Twitter and Tweetcaster released their major updates recently and I came across this cool and interactive app for Twitter: ” Falcon Pro”. In the past  few days, I have been tweeting from three different apps. I thought of summarizing my experience with these three apps and I decided to make a ”Feature Table”.
Here it is:

It seems that Twitter’s official app has still a long road to travel. Tweetcaster has a free version that comes with not-so-annoying ads and a PRO version for just  £3.07. Falcon Pro for Twitter is just £1.22.

Here are the Android Market Links with ratings:

Twitter                            4.0      (0.8 million ratings)
Tweetcaster                     4.4      (0.42 million ratings)
Falcon Pro                        4.6      (7662 ratings)

  1. I still don’t know which Twitter apps will work after 7th may and which ones won’t. The official Twitter app is, in my opinion, pretty awful, so I am carrying on using TweakDeck and Plume right now.

But when/if they stop working? I don’t know. I’m worried about the way Twitter will develop their app and force more and more “promoted” tweets and adverts at us and we won’t have any say in the matter as there won’t be any alternatives.

I wonder why Twitter hasn’t at least floated the idea of a low monthly subscription to keep it add-free and to enable use of third party apps? I’d happily pay £5 per month for unrestricted Twitter use as it *is* the thing I use most on the internet.

  2. I think the problem lies in the fact that a lot of people, specially in 3rd world countries, can’t just give up £5 a month. Having ads, and a buy out option will work, since it works for most other services. The simple fact of the matter is that a lot of these services are too transitional for us to know for sure, but that is what you get out of a free service.
