Beware because scammers are aware!

As the Corona crisis is at its peak, there is a similar trend for the traffic on the internet. Most people are now working remotely from the comfort of their personal computers. The internet is the hotspot to run any kind of business. It is likely that eCommerce will flourish during this time. However, it is also high time for scammers to mislead people and use them given the amount of traffic on the internet.

A very recent example of an “SEO SCAM” as we are calling it happened with us. Our team received an email from a scammer claiming copyrights on one of the pictures posted on our website on behalf of their client.

Now our team was sure that the picture came from a credible source and we had the permission to use it. Moreover, we had cross-checked with our source to be sure about what we were dealing with. However, we jumped into the investigation as it was new to us too. Upon interrogating, we found out that the scammer just wanted to promote their website link through our website.

As the scammer had claimed that the picture came from one of their clients, they wanted us to give them credit by adding their link to the picture. The link opened to another tech website which made us realize that the person was just looking for a free promotional link. Moreover, the scammer claimed to be from antispamreporter.org which is not a credible website itself and seems like a mere scam. It only has a good looking front page with templates as the remaining pages.

We always credit people we take stuff from and that is what we encourage everyone else to do as well. However, it is unethical to take credit wrongfully. Our team discourages it and wants everyone running a website or blog out there to beware of such scams. Especially when it is high time for people to turn the internet to make a living. Everyone is going to be looking for an easy way out. The thing is we should all be helping each other in such a time of crisis but never on the basis of a lie.

There’s no issue if you’ve bought this from our market partners such as Shutterstock, iStock, Getty Image, Pexels, Adobe, Pixabay, Unsplash, etc.,

However, if you don’t have the proper license for the image then we request you to provide image credits (clickable link) on your article. Or else this will be against the copyright policy.

Unfortunately, removing the image isn’t the solution since you have been using our image on your website for a while now.
