huawei

Huawei has announced its P40 series which includes the HUAWEI P40 Pro+, HUAWEI P40 Pro and HUAWEI P40. The new flagship phones feature cutting-edge designs with ground-breaking camera innovations that radically expand mobile photography and video capture possibilities.

The three smartphones are all about improved processors and large sensors, continuing the series’ heritage of imaging excellence. The HUAWEI P40 Series is powered by Kirin 990 5G and supports high-speed 5G and Wi-Fi 6 Plus.

Unprecedented design

The HUAWEI P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ have been equipped with the HUAWEI quad-curve overflow display. The art of motion inspired display curves on all four edges. The bezels are extremely narrow making it seem borderless, while an enhanced in-screen fingerprint reader offers 30 percent faster biometric authentication.

The P40 series is available in three glossy finishes including Ice White, Deep Sea Blue and Black – and two innovative refractive matte glass finishes – Blush Gold and Silver Frost. HUAWEI P40 Pro+ features an exquisite nano-tech ceramic back panel that is kilned and polished to ensure it stands the test of time with incredible durability and timeless style. This unique design comes in two iconic colors: Ceramic White and Ceramic Black.

The camera module is the most prominent design element on the back, with the phones featuring three, four, and five rear-facing sensors.

The P40 Pro+ (below) packs the most potent camera system of the three models, featuring five lenses, including a 50-megapixel Ultra Vision Wide Lens, 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle Cine lens, 8-megapixel 10x optical Super Periscope telephoto lens, 8-megapixel 3x optical telephoto lens, and Huawei ToF sensor. The P40 Pro (image above) has the second-best camera with four sensors, featuring the same 50-megapixel shooter and 40-megapixel Cine lens, a 12-megapixel 5x optical Periscope telephoto lens, and a Huawei ToF sensor. The regular P40, meanwhile, gets a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, 50-megapixel Ultra Vision Wide Lens, and 8-megapixel 3x optical telephoto lens.

The 50-megapixel sensor is the highlight of the P40 camera system, featuring a larger 1/1.28 inch RYYB sensor that’s much bigger than what’s available on competing devices. Huawei said that a brand new AI Image Engine will help improve the camera experience thanks to a suite of new algorithms meant to improve focus, zoom, and low-light photography. The P40 Pro+ is also the world’s first phone to get a dual-telephoto zoom lens system, where both a regular 3x optical telephoto lens and a 10x optical Super Periscope telephoto work together to enhance zoom.

An all-connected 5G powerhouse

The HUAWEI P40 Series is powered by Kirin 990 5G to deliver integrated 5G connectivity with the most comprehensive 5G band support, robust AI performance and power efficiency. Display responsiveness and gaming experience are taken to the next level by the upgraded graphics rendering engine making the most of the 90Hz panel on the HUAWEI P40 Pro and HUAWEI P40 Pro+.

The 160MHz Wi-Fi 6 Plus technology featured in the full line-up offers high-speed connectivity with support for 2,400Mbps peak theoretical transmission speed. The industry-leading 40W Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge is available on the HUAWEI P40 Pro+ for fast and convenient charging. The chipset is given the thermal headroom to deliver exceptional performance by the advanced cooling systems, including the bespoke 4-in-1 SuperCool system in the HUAWEI P40 Pro+.
