Tile, a renowned consumer electronics company helping users find their electronic devices reportedly announced its new contract with HP, the computer market giant, to launch a laptop with a built-in Tile. This step marks the company’s entrance into a new field.

Beginning early 2020, the HP Elite Dragonfly would feature Tile’s locating technology as a selectable option. This technology would allow customers to utilize their Tile app to track down their misplaced or lost laptops, see the last place where it was placed, and activate the company’s finding network to get assistance if the device is lost beyond the range of the Bluetooth. The Tile feature would work even if the HP laptop is powered off or offline.

The CEO of Tile, CJ Prober stated that this collaboration with HP comes as the company is rapidly expanding its embedded business. The company is thrilled to innovate alongside market leaders to make important, daily devices such as laptops findable.

Recently, in a 2019 global survey, about half of the respondents stated they left their homes without taking their laptop. This makes them late to their work and further disturbs their daily schedule. The new HP and Tile partnership brings searching power to all the places where laptop users go, reducing time and empowering each day; in fact, 72 % stated that the ability to find their misplaced or lost laptop would be extremely valuable.

The integration would operate utilizing a novel Tile Windows app on HP Elite Dragonfly and the customer’s Tile mobile app. HP’s Tile-enabled Dragonfly incorporates ringing features and searching ranges the same as Tile’s most strong hardware. With more than 29 billion BLE-enabled gadgets predicted to ship in the coming five years, of which about one billion are laptops, integration is a crucial business pillar for the company.

“This announcement with HP comes at a time when Tile is rapidly expanding our embedded business,” said CJ Prober, CEO of Tile. “We are pleased to innovate alongside industry leaders to make valuable, everyday devices like laptops findable.”
