Samsung Brings Galaxy to More People: Introducing Galaxy S10 Lite and Note10 Lite

After weeks of leaks and rumors, South Korean tech giant, Samsung, has finally unveiled the lite variants of its popular flagships, the Galaxy Note 10 and S10. Samsung claims the two phones have been launched in a bid to give “access to signature Galaxy innovations including the latest camera features, S Pen, and other key tools” to more people than ever before.

Speaking at the unveiling, DJ Koh, Samsung’s President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, said, The Galaxy S and Galaxy Note devices have met consumer wants and demands around the world. These devices represent our continuous effort to deliver industry-leading innovations, from performance and power to intelligence and services… The Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note10 Lite will introduce those distinct key premium features that make up a Galaxy S and Galaxy Note experience.

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S10 Lite will be made available in Prism White, Prism Black, and Prism Blue colors, while the Galaxy Note10 Lite is available in Aura Glow, Aura Black, and Aura Red. However, the company hasn’t announced availability dates or the pricing of the two devices yet.

“The Galaxy S and Galaxy Note devices have met consumer wants and demands around the world. These devices represent our continuous effort to deliver industry-leading innovations, from performance and power to intelligence and services,” Mobile CEO DJ Koh said in a release tied to the news. “The Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note10 Lite will introduce those distinct key premium features that make up a Galaxy S and Galaxy Note experience.”

The devices are a clear response to a sea change in consumer demand over the last several years. While Samsung has long offered mid-range devices, the additions of the Galaxy S10 Lite and Note 10 Lite are an appeal to users looking for something in the flagship ballpark. While Samsung has yet to offer specifics on pricing, one imagines they’ll fall somewhere between its mid-range A series and the $1,000+ cost of the high-end products.

Specifications

Despite being lite variants of two entirely different flagships, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite and S10 Lite do share a lot of specs. The Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note10 Lite bring with them edge-to-edge Infinity-O 6.7-inch displays capable of Full HD+ resolutions and a pixel density of 394 PPI.

Under the hood, the Galaxy S10 Lite comes with a Snapdragon 855 processor, while the Galaxy Note 10 Lite offers Samsung’s in-house Exynos 8895 chipset. These have been paired with 6/8GB+128GB RAM and storage configurations. Keeping the lights on the Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note10 Lite are massive 4,500mAh batteries that support super-fast charging.

But that’s where the similarities end. The two, in fact, get differing camera setups. The S10 Lite brings a 5-megapixel f/2.4 macro lens; a 48-megapixel F2.0 wide-angle lens featuring Super Steady OIS, and a 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide featuring a 123-degree angle lens.

The Note Lite, on the other hand, gets a 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide lens; a 12-megapixel f/1.7 wide-angle lens with dual-pixel technology and OIS; and a 12-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto lens (also with OIS). Apart from this, the major differentiating factor between the two is the presence of the S Pen on the Galaxy Note 10 Lite.
