Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves now detect open windows to prevent energy waste

Smart Radiator

Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves now offer Open Window Detection. With this new feature, they can switch off the heating in a room when a window is opened so that no energy is wasted. Open Window Detection is a new software feature available for the Additional Smart Radiator Valves. A free and automatic upgrade has been introduced for all Smart Radiator Valves, including those already on the market.

With the Additional Smart Radiator Valves, which work with the Netatmo Smart Thermostat, users control each radiator to save even more energy and improve their comfort.

How does Open Window Detection work?

As soon as a window opens, the Netatmo Smart Radiator Valve detects a drop in temperature through its sensors. The heating is then automatically switched off to save energy. To inform the user of this, an icon appears on the Radiator Valve and in the Energy app.

The Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves switch the room’s heating back on as soon as they detect that the window has been closed, or 30 minutes after detecting that it is open.

If they wish, users can also keep their radiator heating on manually when their window is open. In the Energy application, they can tap the “Continue to heat” button to stop the heating being switched off.

They can likewise deactivate this feature in the app so that their radiators carry on heating even if a window is open.

All features of the Smart Radiator Valves are available free of charge. No subscription or additional fees are required to use them.
