Women have started speaking up!
Since the #MeToo movement we have seen a great awakening among the women regarding their rights. While many women chose to stay shut about any violence and harassment against them have now decided to come out in open and talk about their stories. Even in Pakistan, women have started mustering the courage against the powerful and influential men which seemed just a dream some years ago. It was almost a year or more ago when Meesha Shafi accused her colleague Ali Zafar of sexual harassment. While that issue is still in courts here comes Mohsin Abbas Haider, the famous actor, and singer, who has recently been accused of acute domestic violence by his wife Fatema Sohail in a Facebook post.
‘Societal Pressure or not but there is a limit to put a full stop!’
According to Fatema Sohail, the wife of Mohsin Abbas Haider, her husband was cheating on her for his girlfriend. When she confronted him, she was badly tortured during her pregnancy. Mohsin Abbas Haider did not even come to visit his wife and newborn child immediately. He visited them after two days just for the sake of social media attention.
According to Fatema Sohail, she went to Mohsin’s house for him to acknowledge and take responsibility for his child but he refused and tortured her once again. Fatema Sohail also posted photographs of her bruises and injured face.
She said, ‘Societal pressure or not but there is a limit to put a full stop!’
Many people took Twitter to express their views on this issue.
I've been staring at this screen, grappling with the images I saw, trying to form a coherent sentence.
…
There is a special place in hell reserved for anyone who would lay so much as a finger on a woman.
You cannot justify abuse.
It is indefensible.

Domestic violence and mental health should be taken seriously.
