Review | Cheekh Episode 04 | Bilal Abbas | Saba Qamar | Aijaz Aslam

Bilal Abbas and Saba Qamar starrer Cheekh airs on ARY Digital and episode 04 was no less of a cliffhanger.

The story so far:

Nayab (Ushna Shah) is a young underprivileged girl who is friends with a rich family. She has been sexually assaulted and murdered in the house of her friend’s Mannat (Saba Qamar)’s in-laws. Mannat was also from a middle class family but married into this rich family because her husband loved her. She now lives with her brothers and sisters in law. The police suspects Wajih (Bilal Abbas) to be one of the suspects. Before dying, Nayab had said, “Tell Mannat Raja is a wolf/animal”. In episode 04 of Cheekh, Mannat’s going through a conflict and in this last scene you see her facing Wajih.

Review:

The cop’s haggling over getting the case to go away is a realistic portrayal of how the legal system doesn’t uphold justice. This is one of Cheekh’s strongest points. Morality is always a question. It throws the idea to the audience and asks them to figure out what’s right and wrong while unfolding the events. Nayab’s unfortunate family situation is also thrown into perspective when we see her father finally screaming at Yawar and Wajih regardless of how rich they are.

There are multiple suspects at this point. Saleem the driver. Raja, Wajih’s friend. Wajih himself.

That last scene was one of the most gripping scenes of Cheekh. And that’s saying something. Mainly because overall the drama is very gripping and has the perfect elements of a mystery thriller.

Both Saba and Bilal have portrayed some excellent expressions here which encapsulate the first step of the antagonism between the two characters.

Wajih has been arguing with Mannat’s father that he is no killer/suspect at which point Mannat comes and looks at him with questions in her eyes.
