Honor Launches Android Pie-based EMUI 9.0 for Its Devices

Honor fans are in luck! Today marks the worldwide launch of the EMUI 9.0 for the following devices: the Honor Play, the Honor View 10, and the Honor 10. The newest version of the Honor user interface, the EMUI 9.0, promises a smarter, smoother and simpler operating system. Taking a cue from the Android 9.0 Pie,  the EMUI 9.0 comes bundled with innovative features that boost the user experience in device management, security, AI-driven smart life functionality, and overall usability.

“EMUI 9.0 was born out of a commitment to create an enjoyable and simple experience for Honor fans. The innovative features and the brand new UX design embody the spirit of our brand, a brand that is always working to optimise the mobile user experience and meet the evolving needs of our young customers. We look forward to sharing this latest innovation with them and welcoming new customers impressed by our unrivalled product quality and service,” said Mr. George Zhao, President of Honor, at the occasion of the launch.

One-Tap Security with the “Password Vault”

With Honor’s EMUI 9.0 operating system, smartphone users can use the built-in “Password Vault” for managing and storing passwords, user IDs, and online credentials in one safe space. The password manager works seamlessly across various apps and websites to provide secure access to the device owner. All the user has to do is tap the screen and the fingerprint ID protocol will auto-fill the required fields – ta-da!

See the World through AI-enabled HiVision

The smartphone has become inseparable from our daily lives – we use it for everything, from ordering a meal to booking airplane tickets. With the EMUI 9.0 release, Honor presents HiVision,  an AI-enabled personal shopping, translation, and travel assistant. Employing Augmented Reality when needed the most, HiVision allows the user to point and focus on the desired object. Almost immediately, the user is redirected to an online retail platform, such as Amazon, where they can make their purchase. HiVision uses the smartphone’s camera to identify over 500 landmarks 15 countries as well as 10 million artworks across 40 major city centers all over the world. Not only does HiVision make traditional guidebooks history, with its inbuilt translation feature, but tourists can also instantly translate maps, menus, and other instructions in more than 7 languages.

The latest upgrade to the HiAI ecosystem, the EMUI 9.0, means that Honor devices can now support 147 algorithmic calculations, and 33 online APIs. The ecosystem can significantly improve the user’s photography experience as it can now identify more than 1,500 scenes. Other advantages of the fresh upgrade include the addition of an AI Schedule Planner and an AI Email Translator.

Live Your Best Digital Life

Honor’s EMUI 9.0 follows through on the brand’s promise to improve their user’s quality of life by boosting their digital well-being.  The brand-new Digital Balance dashboard presents in-depth metrical analysis the user’s personal device usage, including usage time for each app, time spent, and the overall frequency of device unlocking. Phone users can then use this information to apply usage quotas for individual apps. This will help them better manage their time on the smartphone. With the Wind Down mode, users will set a time for the ‘wind down’ to begin so they can gain a restful night’s sleep. At that pre-set time, the display will gradually fade to grey, and all the smartphone alerts will be silenced.

Share Without Boundaries

The newly upgraded system includes Wireless Projecting, in which the user gains a desktop-like viewing experience with their smartphone. Their device wirelessly connects to a supported monitor or TV. They can easily project videos, gaming, photos, and even presentations on a larger screen. EMUI 9.0 also makes wireless printing a reality without any additional costs. With one click, users can avail convenient mobile-based printing while on-the-go.

A Gift that Keeps on Giving

The EMUI 9.0 delivers as a lightweight operating system that transforms the device into a cleaner, faster and easier-to-use smartphone. The newest version increases the overall operational performance by 12.9 percent while also decreasing app launch times. There is also an updated navigation system that reduces the total quantity of EMUI setting items by 10 percent. The EMUI 9.0’s natural UX design takes its inspiration from Mother Nature while ensuring consistency across the entire interface. Next-gen revolutionary graphics processing technology, GPU Turbo 2.0, is based on EMUI 9.0. With the EMUI 9.0, the user gains a significantly better gaming experience bundled with a 36 percent reduction in touch-input latency. The optimised operating system can support popular games like Vainglory, Rules of Survival, Arena of Valor and NBA 2K18.
