Look and feel

We were sent the funky looking ‘Psycho Tropical’ colour. This one is hard to describe, but the picture shows you what we got.

The over-the-ear design lets you listen to music for a few good hours, while the memory foam keeps it comfortable. I am one of those people with a huge head, and I found that I had to wear mine for a bit before it loosened up. Since then it has been very comfortable.

I did notice that the L and R markers are quite faded on my headphones, unlike the display picture. If I had to complain about something, this would be the only thing.

The top of the headband offers some extra cushioning too.

The left earphone is fairly standard, while the right one features the control buttons, the ports for 3.5mm and micro USB, as well as a hole for the microphone.

The design is folding, allowing you to chuck them in your backpack for easy travel.

Setup

Like most Bluetooth headsets, the setup is reasonably simple. Hold the middle of the control button to turn it on for a few seconds. When on, it goes into pairing mode automatically. From there, use your phone/tablet to pair. After that you are good to go.

Sound Quality

The headphones offer some noise isolation straight out of the box, which definitely helps with the sound quality. At 40mm and a pretty low-end price, you cannot expect to be blown away. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality I got. The sound reproduction is pretty accurate, and what really impressed me was how well-balanced everything sounded. Such headphones have a tendency to be bass heavy, but this one has been tuned to perfection.

Whether you are rocking some beats, listening to podcasts, or relaxing to some classical or jazz, these are the perfect headphones for it all.

Comfort

As mentioned above, they offer memory foam ear cushions to provide plenty of comfort. I had to wear mine for a bit for the stiffness of the band to go away, but after about an hour of use, they seemed to mould perfectly to my massive head. From there you can easily wear these for a long time.

As we are going through a particularly hot spell of weather, I did find these quite hot to wear, so that did put me off a little bit.

Battery Life

They promise 22 odd hours plus a quick 10-minute charge for a four-hour boost. They do not disappoint!

More information

More information on these can be found on the Skullcandy website.

They can be bought directly from their website, or from the likes of Amazon. They retail from £69.99.

Verdict

At under a £100, the Skullcandy Hesh 3 offer a great sound, awesome comfort and an amazing battery life. Perfect headphones for people who are out and about, with the noise isolation making this ideal for especially those who commute.

  1. What I like the best in this headphone is the 22 hours battery back-up and a quick 10-minute charge for back-up of 4 hours. A very appropriate and unbiased article.
