What’s in the Box?

  • Range extender
  • An RJ-45 Ethernet cable
  • The Quick Installation Guide
  • The two-year warranty and other leaflets

Note: the packaging of the TP-Link AC1750 Wi-Fi Range Extender is also great, and unboxing is as easy as can be.

Look and Feel

The TP-Link AC1750 is bulky and thick — it’s pretty much the size and shape of a 6.5-inch smartphone. When you look at the front of the AC1750, you’ll find that it features a big RE and WPS button coupled with an LED light ring around its outer edge. The device also sports 2.4GHz- and 5GHz-band status indicators as well as a power indicator.

On the left side, you’ll find quite a few buttons including the Power, reset and a button that turns off the LED lights. And the right side of the device sports a single gigabit LAN port and two-pronged plug at the back. All in all, the TP-Link AC1750 is a big and functional device that’s sure to fit in your basement, garage or wherever else you want to plug it.

Setup and Ease of Use

Perhaps, one of the greatest things about the TP-Link AC1750 is that it’s incredibly easy to set up. And of course, super easy to use. Essentially, there are two setup options; you can do it online or better still, use the WPS button on your router. The good thing is, both options are detailed in the included instruction manual. First off, you can use your laptop or iPhone to do the setup online. You just have to connect to the device and fill in the necessary details in the online portal or better still, add the network you want to extend.

If you prefer the WPS option, all you have to do is plug the range extender into an outlet, press the big round button on the front and then press the WPS button on your router. At this point, the extender will find the router and connect within seconds. Overall, you should be done with the entire setup in 10 minutes.

Performance

As mentioned earlier, the installation process is easy. It even gets better if your router supports WPS. Just plug the TP-Link AC1750 into any outlet that’s close to your router and wait for the Power light to turn blue. At this point, I pressed the WPS button on my router and did the same for the WPS button on the extender. After doing this, the LED ring should change from blinking blue to solid blue. At this point, you can move the extender to a spot that’s halfway between the router and the dead spot in your home. Just be sure to move the extender a little bit closer if you find that LED ring red. As you probably guessed, blue light indicates that the extender has a good connection to the router while red means that’s it’s way too far. The good thing is, you can get an excellent signal from a far distance — even up to 125 feet.

The most important thing is that the TP-Link AC1750 Wi-Fi Range Extender was able to meet and exceed my expectations. It worked so much better in my house, and more importantly, I had good reception in the garage, the back garden, and the rooms where reception used to be a problem.
