Top Pakistani Dramas of the Season: #2 Aakhri Station.

Our second favorite drama of the season is “Aakhri Station“. It’s a tough watch, no doubt, it offers no respite from the main storylines but this is a must-watch.

What’s so great about it?
Sarmad Khoosat’s direction and performances by all the actors make Aakhri Station a must-watch. It also talks about some topics which are simply not discussed in mainstream media or in popular television dramas: acid attacks, prostitution, HIV, drug abuse, IDPs, depression and suicide are topics that are rarely touched upon by Pakistani dramas. The one very great thing about it is also how Aakhri Station shows you how evil and ugly abuse is – glorifying and beautifying abuse is something that Pakistani dramas often do – so Aakhri Station is a necessary pinch of reality.

What’s it about?
This is a seven-episode miniseries that charts the lives of different women who are sharing a train compartment. Each of these women have a different story, a different tragedy that has bought them together.

Who are the cast/characters/crew?
The play is written by Amna Mufti and is directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat. It stars Sanam Saeed, Nimra Bucha, Ammarah Butt, Malika Zafar, Farah Tufail, Eeman Suleman and it is produced with the association of Kashf Foundation that previously gave plays like Rehaii and Udaari.

When does it air?
Aakhri Station ended this Tuesday, March 27. But all episodes are available on YouTube on ARY’s official channel and you can check it out there.
