Top Pakistani Dramas of the Season: #1 Aangan

So we’ll be doing a series of posts of the best Pakistani dramas of the season.

The first drama that everyone is loving and for good reason is “Aangan“.

What’s so great about it?

Noted for its hilarious family dynamics and a strong dialog, the play is one of those rare works on television that can be loved and enjoyed by people of all ages.

What’s it about?

Set in a large family where Mian Jee and his Begum live with their daughter, their three sons and their wives and their children, Aangan is about what’s great and what’s not so great about our culture. Mian Jee is a regular orthodox father who is strict but also kind. His wife is a typical wife but she is also kind and sweet to her children and her daughters in law. They have a daughter who is still unmarried and it worries them that she won’t get married. One of Mian Ji’s daughters in law has a friend who has a son who is coming from Canada. This DIL wants her own daughter to get married to the boy, but the boy chooses Mian Jee’s daughter instead. The same DIL has another son who wants to get married to the girl of his choice. Mian Ji’s another son has married someone who is very different from his family and they have no children. Another of Mian Ji’s son is super religious and does not take care for his wife and kids much. Another son of his takes care of the house and Mian Jee’s business whereas one of their sons lives in Germany with his wife and family and Mian Jee is always a little angry at him for being very disconnected. Mian Jee’s unmarried daughter is a demure girl who writes novels. Another one of his daughters is married and has two more daughters. That daughter is always fighting and is very fussy. So is her husband. Chaos
