Relync – The Futuristic Smart Scooter Inspired By Racecars Of The Past

Everyone knows that mobility scooter users have these vehicles to make their lives easier, but mobility scooters don’t usually have a reputation for being at the cutting edge of technology. This could be about to change with the Relync. This is a stylish, folding mobility scooter that has already won an Innovation Award at CES in the new Smart Cities category, which was introduced for 2018.

This is a new generation of scooter, being dubbed a smart scooter and it features a light frame, unlike the bulky unpractical designs of previous years which is set to revolutionise the lives of its users, according to its designers. It can be folded away and packed up into a self-contained suitcase and it can be done in only two steps in a few seconds. That is much faster than any other mobility scooter available right now. It no longer has to be a purely functional vehicle now as the design is sleek, elegant and modern. It’s been inspired by racecars of the 1960s which makes the design unique and completely different from other mobility scooters on the market today.

The Relync is smartphone-compatible and has an inbuilt dashboard LED light navigation system. This allows the driver to focus on the road instead of a phone or navigation system. It is also designed to reduce the speed if the safe limits are exceed on bends and hills, in the hope that accidents will be prevented. This is done using automatic speed adaptation using a GYRO sensor and speed algorithms.

It’s also easy to lock, locate and track in real time using an app for smartphones or tablets using GPRS and GPS. It has an intelligent alarm and tamper functionality that will alert the user or any passers-by if the vehicle is moved or disturbed. There’s also a handy USB port so users can charge their smartphones or other devices while out and about.

Julien Gueuning, industrial designer at Relync, said, “More than 8.2 million people relying on mobility devices across the UK, Europe and the USA – but most mobility scooters available are too bulky, unpractical, get stuck on turns and rough surfaces and are not at all aesthetically pleasing. This prevents many people will mobility issues – both those who are disabled and those who are less fit and require assistance in order to comfortably get around – from choosing a mobility scooter.

“Although many mobility scooter users are physically fit, the traditional designs can lead to perceptions that the user is weak and helpless. And often they can detract from the users’ sense of style, and therefore their confidence. When we developed RELYNC, bringing together form and function was one of our goals, because we believe that mobility doesn’t simply have to be practical; it can be beautiful and fashionable as well. RELYNC is more futuristic and innovative than any product like this has ever been. It is designed to be stylish, eye-catching and aspirational, to make it more of a lifestyle choice than a purely functional product – much like a luxury car.”

Gueuning continues: “We are launching a personal transport revolution, to give power and confidence back to the user, so that they’re able to go anywhere, free of limitations, and enjoy a fun and safe travel experience. Mobility needs should never be a hindrance to enjoying life to its fullest, and mobility scooters are a mature market that is in need of disruption. RELYNC is designed to be smaller, thinner, more comfortable, easier to fold and more portable than all other folding scooters and mobility scooters.”

Relync is currently exhibiting at CES 2018 from 9th – 12th January 2018 in Sands Hall G, stand 52725. If you would like to know more about this exciting new mobility scooter, you can visit the website.
