How to retrieve deleted pictures from iPhone/iPad/iPod

Nothing is more sadness-inducing than losing pictures and precious moments from your iPhone. I personally lost all my travel pictures when my phone was mugged and I feel pangs every time I remember that I did not back them up. But, there is a solution. Here’s how you can recover deleted pictures from your Apple devices using the dr.fone data recovery software for iPhone/iPad.

1. Connect your device to your computer

This goes without saying but in order to recover something from a device, that device and your computer need to be in a harmonic symphony or in this case have a USB cord linking them like George Clooney in space.

2. Launch dr. fone recovery programme

Now that your phone is connected, launch the programme and wait till it detects your phone. Or you can launch the program first and then connect your phone to the PC, the choice is yours. Select the data recovery tab. As you can see from the image above, there are a lot of options on what you can choose to recover. We can obviously choose photos for this example. You can also use it to recover messages on your iPhone/iPad.

TOP TIP: You must have the latest iTunes when working with dr. fone but in a catch 22, it should not be running in the background. It must also have it’s auto-syncing disabled when you are working with data recovery so do the needful beforehand.

3. Scan the device for lost data

Almost there! Scan your device for your lost files. This will take a few minutes depending on how much data you have, so sip some green tea or browse Twitter. If you see the files you are looking for, click Pause.

4. Preview and recover your data

There are a lot of options in the dr. fone toolkit to help you recover your data. It shows both lost and existing data so you have a clear picture of what you want to recover. You can also enable the option to show deleted data so that you know whether you need to recover that or not. Search the data you want, select and then save the data to your computer or your device by clicking the recovery button.

Here’s a video tutorial to help you visualise the process better:
