Motorola VerveOnes Plus Music Edition – same sound, better connection

We have looked at Motorola’s VerveOne series in detail on our website. From the original edition to the Music Edition, we have had our fair time trying these out. Motorola is back once again, in collaboration with Binatone, to give us another version of the VerveOnes. These are called the Motorola VerveOnes+ Music Edition, showing an increment in design and technology, while the emphasis remains on sound quality.

VerveOnes

VerveOnes Plus ME – Specs and features

  • Sweat and waterproof – IP57 rated
  • TrueSync enhanced for gapless audio
  • Up to 8h playtime with charge case
  • Deep, rich HD sound
  • Siri & Google Now compatible
  • Built-in mic
  • Works with Motorola’s VerveLife app

In comparison to the last version, we now have Alexa as well as TrueSync. Alexa is not much different to Google Now or Siri, and purely depends on your preference.

TrueSync is important, as the previous versions have struggled with connectivity.

Look and feel

Not much has changed since the last editions, apart from the fact that now you can buy these in lime as well. Sadly, the lime version is only available in the US.

The same physical shape means you can use older cases as well, though I haven’t tried it.

The physical fit is same as before. Having tried some other options in the market, it is obvious that the slightly bigger bulk is noticeable, but it comes down to your personal preference.

Setup

Unlike most Bluetooth headphones, these require you to download the VerveLife app, which you use to pair these. It is also used to keep a tab on their last location. Luckily I haven’t lost mine yet, but at their size, it is easily possible.

Install the app, get it to look for these, and then turn the earbuds on. The process was reasonably simple and worked straight away. If you have issues, it walks you through a reset process on the earbuds. Between the simple and the reset process, you do get there in the end.

Connectivity

My main focus for these was always going to be connectivity. I struggled using the last ones because of them. For once, I was pleasantly surprised. The earbuds work perfectly. There is a 5-second delay between turning these on and connecting them, but that is hardly anything for any Bluetooth headset.

Once connected, these stay connected. When put in the box, they disconnect. Take them out, turn them on, and they connect again.

No more issues!

There was still the occasional ‘skipping the beat’ between earbuds, but that was rare.

Like most other devices, they need both earbuds to be active to work.

Sound Quality

Compared to the competition, this is where these really shine. The noise isolation, as well as sound quality, is great. You get a deep bass as well as high clarity. Whether you want music, podcasts, or some instrumentals, these are the devices for you.

Same goes for phone calls. It works well.

Hey Siri!

Whether you prefer Siri, Alexa or Google Now, the process is straightforward. Press the button, say your stuff, and let your phone do the rest.

More information

More information on these can be found on the Motorola website.

These are available from online retailers such as Amazon, and cost £149.99. The US version offers the Lime device, and it costs $169.99.

Verdict

If you have been waiting for a decent truly wireless sci-fi film headphone solution, the VerveOnes from Motorola are finally there.
