AUKEY Bluetooth Receiver Car Kit

Laws may be getting stricter, but the biggest priority while driving should be your safety. For this reason, it is always good to have a handsfree solution for your car. If you splashed out on one of the newer car models, there is a good chance your car comes with one. However, if it doesn’t, you should definitely invest in one. A lot of solutions feature Bluetooth and come as a headset or a speaker. If your car has an auxiliary port, the best solution is one that uses the speakers of your car. The AUKEY Bluetooth Receiver Car Kit achieves exactly that.

Look and feel

The main device comes with a circular body that has three control buttons as well as a microphone. The back of this is magnetic and this can be attached to the magnetic base that comes with the device. Using this and sticky tape (provided), you can attach this at a suitable location in your car.

The tape stuck well in mine, and the base attaches well too. Being magnetic means it goes on in a snap and comes off easily.

From the unit comes off a cable that includes a 3.5mm plug as well as a USB connector. You need to connect the USB to a USB charger. The device comes with a 3 port plug, so you won’t miss out on any other charging you need to do in your car.

The 3.5mm plug needs to go in the auxiliary port of your car.

Due to its small size, it is pretty much pop in your car and forget kind of a device.

Setup

The device only powers up when there is power going into the USB port. This means that if your car turns on the 12V port when it comes on, the device should fire up. If it stays on permanently, the device will stay on permanently (and may suck out power from your car battery).

Mine is the former, so I didn’t have a lot to worry about.

Once the device is on, go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone, scan, and choose the Aukey BR-C8 device.

You only need to do this once. After this, every time you turn on the car, the device should automatically pair with your phone.

In case you want to pair to a different phone, you merely break the connection of the first phone and pair another.

Ease of use

The device is incredibly easy to use. Press the phone button to accept phone calls, double click to redial, and press once to play/pause music. Same with the other two self explanatory buttons.

Sound quality

Having used this for a few weeks, I can happily report that the sound quality was great. The microphone works brilliantly. I can sit back and drive and speak while the car is going at a high speed, and the other party can hear my voice clearly. As far as sound goes, it is as good as your car speakers.
