So when I am not at my day job, I run a lifestyle blog called The Good Life on the side with my sister. But why should you maintain one? For one, it is a great space to talk about the things that interest you. It is a customisable way to find people on the Internet who are into the same things as you. But how should you make your blog grow? Here are some things that worked amazingly well for The Good Life and we are eager to share them with you!
Steal Like An Artist
There is no shame in taking inspiration from other bloggers. Case in point, my favourite blogger The Desi Wonder Woman wrote a post on her favourite childhood books. I was so inspired I did the same and gave her credit. Months later, another person found my blog and did the same on hers and gave me credit. It was a process of giving and showing love to books and it got me a genuine reader on my blog. Result!
Support Small Businesses
We made it our mission to support small businesses when we started our blog. This has resulted in networking like no other. These small businesses notice our hard work since we never ask for freebies they are always kind enough to appreciate our work whenever we give them a shout-out.
Vary your content
As a rule of thumb, we try to not have that many posts which are sponsored in a row on our blog. It is important for your readers to see that your content is original and brands just highlight it here and there. They did not follow your blog to read ads, they do it for creative content that resonates with them.
Use Blogging Prompts
Sometimes you can run out of things to write and talk about. In that case, use blogger prompts! Amna and I both did the 30 Facts About Me tag on the blog. It was a fun way to talk about our interests and let our readers know a bit about us!
5. Do Series Posts
Series posts are consistent and lets your readers know what to expect from you in a week. If you can’t do series, break it down and do themed weeks from time to time so that there is content that has a coherent structure on your blog.
Blogging is rewarding albeit a time consuming hobby but some of these ideas will make your blog interesting and contemporary and keep your audience coming back for more!
