Review: Adonit Mini 3 Stylus Offers Precision And Elegance

If you are like me, you use your fingers to operate a touchscreen 99 percent of the time. A stylus probably isn’t top of your list of priorities and you can’t imagine how you would use one. So, when I was given the chance to try out the Adonit Mini 3 precision disc stylus, I wondered how I would test this item. After all, I have only the 99p stylus I bought on a whim in a card shop a few years ago to compare it to, and that lies at the bottom of my bag unused.

The Adonit Mini 3 is like the Ferrari of styli. It is a fine line stylus that is ideal for mobile use. It’s compatible with all touchscreens and promises that no screen is too small. It works with a precision disc that lies flat on the screen while the tip of the stylus rests in the centre of the disc. When you move the stylus around, the disc accommodates your movements while the nib rotates and flexes against the disc. This maintains stylus contact with the touchscreen smooth and lets you move it in whatever direction you like.

One of the things I like about this stylus is that it comes with a cap, just like a pen would which prevents it from becoming damaged in your bag or pencil case. It’s quite short, around two-thirds the length of a pen and has an ergonomic design for easy grip. It also has a clip for carrying. The opposite end to the precision disc can also be used as a stylus for regular tapping without the accuracy.

It comes in a range of colours. I tried the black version but it also comes in gold, silver and rose gold. They have a matt finish and feel smooth against your fingers while still delivering good grip.

I’m pleased to say that it’s as precise and easy to use as Adonit promise. In fact, it would be useful for all smartphones users. Students might find it handy for taking notes and will definitely find it easier than trying to type on a phone or tablet. Artists, both professional and amateur, will appreciate from the precision it offers. Smartphone users with long nails will definitely find it easier to use a stylus like this than their fingers and it could result in less typos. The great news is this stylus wasn’t affected by the cold like our fingers might be so could be used in any environment, which appeals to us all.

What a lot of us don’t take into consideration is the hygiene issue too. Our fingers get dirty and very few of us, if any, wash our hands before each time we use our touchscreens so they become a breeding ground for bacteria. Using a stylus like this reduces those hygiene issues and ensures you’re not constantly touching your phone with germ-infested hands.

The Adonit Mini 3 is a worthwhile investment. It’s precise, attractive and comfortable to use. I would highly recommend purchasing this for yourself and with an RRP of $19.99 it’s an item that would make a great low-budget gift or stocking filler at Christmas. You can read more about it here.
