Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear Wireless – Designed for businessmen?

Everything about these says businessman to me. It almost seems like they were designed by somebody who used to work at a luxury car company or even somebody from the likes of BlackBerry. Red stitching lines the black leather found all over the device.

On the inside of the left neckband, you will find buttons for power, play/pause/accept and reject calls as well as volume keys. The volume keys can also be used to skip tracks. At the bottom is a cover which hides a micro USB port, which is used to charge the device. Also located is a LED which gives the status of the device.

As the device sits around your neck, the two wires containing the in-ear headphones just suspend from the device. This feels quite natural when sitting around your neck. However, it does feel a bit flimsy when you are putting it in its case. When you first open it, they are attached to a box, but once you have removed it from the box, they just about flail around in there. The box is a great touch though, and almost necessary to keep the earphone wires from getting damaged.

Fit and comfort

I wore the device for many hours and heard quite a few songs. The earphones seemed to sit happily in there, with little discomfort. However, they are a bit longer than your usual in-ear headphones, so they do stick out a bit. Nothing wrong with it, as you hardly notice it, but it does seem a bit weird when you are putting them in.

Overall the device is reasonably comfortable, and you can easily wear it for hours.

In terms of portability, they are pretty light and sit merrily on your neck. What they did struggle with was any jerky movements of the neck. You won’t be using these while going for a run, jogging or such like.

Sound Quality

The sound quality offered by these is pretty good. The highs are high, the lows are low, and the inbetweens are where they are supposed to be. I was able to enjoy and hear all kinds of notes while trying out a few classical numbers while listening to pop and rock didn’t disappoint either.

While the sound and response is great, there is very little noise cancelling and isolation offered by these.

Generally, though, it wasn’t a big deal in my few days of testing these.

More information

They retail for around £169 and can be bought via various online retailers including Amazon.

Verdict

At £169, these may look a bit boring and feel a bit pricey. However, the sound quality and associated comfort seems to make it all worth it.
