Review: Azoi Kito Plus: Your pocket sized health monitor

kitoplus_subscribe_case

The world is full of health and fitness trackers, but most of them only go as far as a heart rate sensor. Yeah, there are more advanced things out there, but none of them are very portable. Azoi have found a perfect way to pack more into a fitness tracker, and by giving you the option to package it all in a phone case, they are actually giving you ECG, a heart rate sensor, blood oxygen as well as skin temperature in one simple package.

Look and Feel

spec-02

The Kito+ is a credit card sized device that weighs only 22 grams. While one side is blank, the other side holds all the action. This is because one of the side is always facing your phone. The other side is the total business side. You have all kinds of sensors here, which are detailed in the picture above.

At the bottom, below the sensors, to the bottom right corner is a black button, almost invisible, which is pressed to engage the device. Once pressed, a white LED comes on which tells you that the device is ready to be used.

In the centre are a couple of pads that are charging pads, allowing you to charge the device.

spec-04

The charging module features a micro USB, and it attaches magnetically to the Kito+. This isn’t that different from most wearables these days.

Setup

The device is reasonably easy to use. You start with downloading the app from your store, and set up your account if needed.

Once in, you press the switch on the device, and the LED comes on. From there on, you should be good to go.

How to use

hiw-hold

The device is rather easy to use, you press the button, hold it like a camera, and then read the results. One of the only things that may be a concern is that you may find that you don’t press it constantly while it makes the measurements, and if you don’t, you lose your measurements.

Measurements

The measurements are all saved in your app. You are welcome to go back and look at them again, as you please.

And if you want more detail, just hit one of the items. For example, the image below shows my ECG:

2016-05-11 19.40.40

Now I have no idea if that is good or bad, but I am hoping there is nothing wrong with me.

The numbers are easy to read and understand (as much as you can), and it is a rather clean and clear app.

The disclaimer

So the main thing that all this data comes with is the simple fact that Azoi want to make sure that you are not reliant on this data for any medical reasons. If there is a problem, or you need an actual diagnosis, go to your doctor. This is more of a data gathering device, rather than a medical instrument.

More information

More information as well as buying options are available on the Azoi website. It currently retails for £99 in the UK.

Verdict

This is a mixed one. On one hand I get excited by all this extra data that is available to me, but on the other hand, I wonder if this will make you start getting worried about certain things. Having said that, if there is a concern, this isn’t the device for you, your doctor is.
