How Technology Has Changed The Way We Sell Our Homes

Technology has changed the way we do pretty much everything, so is it really any surprise that it has changed the way we sell our homes?

Rather than simply having an ad up in the local estate agent and a ‘For Sale’ sign in the front garden, we can now list our house for sale on the web, which can be viewed by people the world over, in the same way we would with a car, electronics or even unwanted clothes.

But, whilst there is no doubt that technology has changed the way we sell our homes, how has it changed it?

It has made the process quicker…

Sometimes we need to sell our house quickly – either because the situation requires it or we just want to get out of our old home and into a new one. Thanks to technology we can now sell it faster than ever before.

Before, you might have been asking yourself – “how can I sell my house fast?”. There really was no answer to this in the past, the process was long and complicated, and there wasn’t much you could do about it. Today, however, there is. You can actually sell your home in just under a week.

Just make a quick Google search, load up the page of site, such as We Buy Any Home, fill in your details through the valuation form and you will be made an offer within 24 hours. That’s it. Then you can sit back and relax whilst the rest is taken care of for you.

… and easier

Listing your property online means potential buyers don’t always have to come to your house to look around it, as they can find out all they need to know via online images and information.

You can also sell it on the go with your smartphone and tablet. Whether you are on your lunch break, commuting to work or even by the pool on holiday (if you really wanted to) you can be researching, talking to potential buyers and considering offers.

Property sites even have apps now, which means your home can be viewed at the touch of a button, 24/7. Take the new Tinder-style app, Knocker, which aims to find you your dream home in a similar way to discovering a partner via online dating.

It provides more options and gives more control

The internet enables you to take control of the situation, by sharing the listing on your social media pages to help it reach a wider audience. In fact, you could even upload extra photos, a video tour or more information to your channel to help potential buyers get a better feel and understanding of the property.

The option of being able to upload images and information yourself also means you could opt for a private sale, and find a buyer yourself rather than going through estate agents and paying all the extra fees.

The future…

So, what does the future have in store for us when it comes to selling our homes? Well, with the speed at which technology changes we can only imagine how we might start to buy and sell our homes in the future. If this article in The Telegraph is anything to go by it could include wearing a virtual reality headset and drones in the near future.
