Are Robots really taking over our jobs?

While we have heard, talked about and seen all the films, thanks to the latest advancements in machine as well as AI technology, robots are becoming clever, more intelligent, and more importantly, more useful in the daily work place. In fact, while most automation plants already have robots installed in them, and have had them in place since a few decades, it is the new development in technology that is making them so attractive for factory and company owners. Interestingly, while the debate about them taking over people’s jobs carries on, their ‘colleagues’ have a more relaxed view about working around them.

FT has made a series of videos on the topic, and below is a video which talks about Robots in the work place:

Interestingly robots are not just in a position to take over blue collar jobs, but also are proving to be useful in areas of research, and for scientific applications such as surgery. The more intelligent robots may be expensive, but if you break down the basic definition of what a robot in an industry looks like, you only have to look as far as your office (or home) printer to realize that they are already embedded deep within our lives. So, will they take over our jobs? Have you seen many ‘scribers’ left? Scary thought indeed!
