How to: Enable ‘OK Google’ Voice Detection on your Android

OK Google

The Google Voice search is quite a handy feature on the phone. It helps to allow you hands free access while you are driving, or if you are in a sticky situation of sorts. Most Android phones come with this installed straight out of the box, unless you have a device that has been modified or this has been disabled by the carrier. However, if you have managed to disable it in the past, and want to re-enable it, or if you want to have a go at trying to enable it, there is a very simple way to do this.

So I have prepared a little ‘how to’ on enabling it.

It must be said, though, that it is a big battery hog, and disabling it has its advantages too. If you would like to disable it, click here to read our instructions.

Step 1: Go to your Google App

This can be done in two ways, you can either hit the ‘Google Search Bar’ on top of your home screen, or just go to the Google app via your Google Apps folder, or through the App Drawer.

Step 2: Go to Settings

Step 5: Turn on the appropriate/desired settings

You can turn them on for always, or just on in the Google app.

You can also retrain your OK Google voice model, and other options such as creating personal options as well.
