How To: Enable Google Now Cards on your Android

Google Now

The Google Now Cards is quite a handy feature on the phone. In fact, ever since its introduction, it has been a major helping force for people who are on the move, travelling, or just want to keep an eye on the news or their favourite sports. A lot of Android phones come with this enabled out of the box, but some may not. Interestingly, I have noticed that most Android phones, even with heavily modified UI skins on top of Android will allow you to use this feature, even if it is hidden away in the Google App.

So I have prepared a little ‘how to’ on enabling it.

I have noticed, though, that there is a certain advantage to not having it enabled, and that is battery life. Constantly talking to apps obviously uses up your battery life. If you would like to see our guide on how to disable it, instead, please click here.

Step 1: Go to your Google App

This can be done in two ways, you can either hit the ‘Google Search Bar’ on top of your home screen, or just go to the Google app via your Google Apps folder, or through the App Drawer.

Step 2: Go to Settings

This can be achieved by hitting the ‘three bars’ icon on the top left.

And then hitting Settings on the folder that appears.

Step 3: Go to ‘Now Cards’ Settings

Step 4: Enable ‘Show Cards’

Once done, it may ask you other questions about your preferences, on what you would like to show or not show. The app tends to learn more and more about you as you use it, and hence gets better as time goes on. A bit freaky, a bit cool, and highly useful.
