Review: XSories Bendy – the flexable tripod for your Go Pro

With the prices of action cams like Go Pro coming down, and many other competitors arriving on the market, it is no wonder that many new accessories are popping up. However, one accessory has always remained essential to any photographer and videographer, and that is a good tripod. The inherent problem with traditional tripods is that they are big and chunky, and not quite flexible.

Photography accessories manufacturer XSories has an answer in the form of the bendy. This flexible tripod is small enough to fit in a backpack or a small bag, or a large pocket for that matter. The legs can bend and twist to fit onto various surfaces as well as frames and structures, while the top allows you to add any traditional camera, or of course, a Go Pro on top.

The device itself is strong enough for most Go Pro equivalents, and small point and shoots, but not really a standard DSLR, and that much is expected based on the size of this. You can check the XSories website to find better options though, so not all is lost.

And what about the most common kind of camera, i.e. the smartphone? There is a handy attachment for that, too, called the Pholder 2.0.

This has the same screw socket on it as a normal camera, which means this attaches to the Bendy like any camera does. A rotating screw allows you to adjust the thickness of the jaw, letting you fit in almost any phone in, with or without a cover. This makes it extremely handy, and once again, the size is small enough for you to pop this in a bag or a pocket easily.

The padding on the jaws is soft enough to make sure you don’t have to worry about any marks and scratches, and yet strong enough to hold your phone tightly.

One issue that does come with such paddings is that when you are recording, if the padding touches any part of the touch screen, it may end up pressing something on it, so just be careful where you mount this. Of course, it is totally up to you, and you can easily adjust this as you please.
