Review: Cover-Up #WoodBack collection

Cover-Up.com recently wrote to us about their WoodBack collection. The WoodBack collection features, in their own words:

Hand crafted real wood cases and skins, specially designed to combine the unique natural beauty of wood with custom-fit protection for your smartphone or tablet.

Since we love a bit of personalised and hand crafted experience, we were interested, and they offered to send us a couple of samples.

The best part is that since they are all hand crafted out of real wood, each part is unique. They are made in Wales, and are proudly British!

The skin is an exercise in pure customization. While it doesn’t protect your device from the elements and falls, it will give your iPad the unique signature look you are after.

Also, the image above shows the slight imperfections in the wood, which helps you know that not only is the wood real and genuine, it is by the very nature unique.

The skin is beautifully polished and looks great. The slight textured finish ensures that once again, you know the experience is real, and more importantly, it changes the usual ‘slippery’ back of the iPad to a non-slip version.

Out of the box, it comes with an adhesive layer at the back, much like a sticker, which then attaches to the back of your iPad, giving it its skin. However, you have to be careful of course, as there are no guides to attach it properly.

This is very light, adding virtually no weight to your device.

It retails for £19.95.

Skin not good enough, and you do need the protection, go for a #woodback Snap On Case instead. Cover-up sent us the case for the iPad Mini 2/3, which as the name suggests, snaps on to the iPad. This one is lined internally with a soft rubber skin ensuring your iPad doesn’t get scratched and gets plenty of protection. It snaps on, and snaps off with ease too.

Once on, all the ports are properly exposed, and nothing gets in the way of the camera or the bits all around your device.

Once again, the device is made of genuine wood back, though the outer frame is lined with the same rubberised protection that you see on the inside. That is what gives your corners the protection you need. As like the skin, the textured back gives you a non-slip protection at the back, giving you plenty of grip when you hold your device.

One of the best parts is how light this case is.
